Our Mission at the American School-Owners Association (ASA)

The American School-Owners Association is a global network of traditional martial arts instructors united by a shared commitment: to elevate the standards, visibility, and impact of martial arts education for kids and families. ASA exists to serve four core goals:

Ensure High Professional Standards
In an industry without formal regulation, ASA sets the bar. Our member schools uphold rigorous standards in safety, cleanliness, professionalism, and instructional quality — especially when teaching children and families. 

Increase Public Awareness
With less than 3% of Americans actively practicing martial arts, ASA is on a mission to change that. We believe traditional martial arts is the most transformative activity for families — and we’re working to make it the #1 choice for youth development nationwide.

Enhance Business Management Skills
Great instruction is only half the equation. ASA empowers school owners and staff with the business tools they need to run thriving, sustainable schools — from enrollment systems to team leadership and operational excellence.

Strive to Be the Very Best Teachers
ASA members are already exceptional instructors. Our goal is to help them become master educators — who not only teach technique, but instill values, leadership, and lifelong impact.
